Lead (Pb) is the most widely recycled material. Unfortunately, lead is toxic and proper worker health and environmental controls are not implemented in battery recycling around the world impacting public health and the environment.

ESI promotes ocean health and provides education to protect our resources.

ESI lectures on water contamination, water supply, and ocean health, and has participated in training and educating local and indigenous communities.

ESI staff evaluate water quality, implement projects, conduct stakeholder outreach and capacity building. Water projects have been undertaken in Los Angeles, Armenia, the Philippines, and Bangladesh.
